About the Band

Formed in 2007 in Kansas City, Missouri by Lvcivs Antonivs, Nefirum is a black metal band rooted in the traditions of first-wave Norwegian black metal. After an early dissolution around 2010, the band was revived in 2012 with the addition of frontman CausticRKS, bassist J. Hickman and rhythm guitarist Excidium, ushering in a new era of creativity and sharpened intent.

Nefirum evolved into a more aggressive, technically-driven force, channeling the high-energy brutality of second-wave acts such as Dark Funeral, Naglfar, and Marduk. With the lineup resolidified by guitarist B. Heinemen, drummer Salyer, and bassist J. Virgoni, Nefirum began carving a path across the Midwest, performing in Colorado, Texas, Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota.

The band has shared the stage with heavyweights such as 1349, Anaal Nathrakh, Goatwhore, and ABSU, building a reputation for delivering sonic black metal destruction to American audiences hungry for the sound’s European roots.

In 2015, founding guitarist Lvcivs Antonivs left the band, entrusting the remaining members with furthering the band's message. After a decade of silence, Nefirum resurfaced in 2025 with the release of their long-awaited EP, The Spires of Chaos. Alongside returning members B. Heinemen and Excidium, the new era features a finalized lineup: Nusk (Hexenkönig, Serpent Spectre) on bass, with drummer Trynt Kelly (Marasmus, Unmerciful) rounding out the assault.

Nefirum stands as a defiant torchbearer for the old spirit—resurrected and reimagined for a modern era.
